Okuribito wins award for Best Foreign Language Film

"Okuribito" won the Best Foreign Language Film award at the 81st Academy Awards on 22 Feb (US time) which was held in Los Angeles. The director, Takida Youji was there to collect the trophy along with cast members Motoki Masahiro, Hirosue Ryoko and Yo Kimiko. This is the first time that a Japanese film has won this award since this category was first established in 1956. This also marks the first Academy award in 6 years since Miyazaki Hayao's full-length animation film, "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi" won the animation award in 2002.
