Nishijima Hidetoshi & Abe Hiroshi in French movie "Memories Corner"

Nishijima Hidetoshi and Abe Hiroshi appeared at the first-day screening of their French movie "Memories Corner" at Cinema Shinjuku on 23 February. The movie is set in Kobe more than 10 years after the Hanshin-Awaji earthquake took place in 1995 where Nishijima plays an interpreter who helps a French female reporter with her work while Abe plays a man still plagued by the after-effects of the disaster. Nishijima recounted that he had to undergo intensive French lessons before the filming but was caught off guard when new lines were added at the filming scene. On the other hand, Abe who had to speak English in the movie, revealed that he had to spend 3 hours per day under the watchful eye of the English tutor like a student preparing for entrance exams. Abe also jokingly said that he envied Nishijima for being able to speak French in the movie and tried to pass off gibberish during the press conference as his way of speaking the language.
