First-day-screening event of new movie "Zenin Shikei"

The first-day-screening event of new movie "Zenin Shikei" was held on 18 November which was attended by the director Kobayashi Yuuki and cast members Mamiya Shotaro, Maiguma Katsuya, Musaka Naomasa, Irie Kanako and Shimizu Hazuki. The movie is based on the book "Wagaikka Zenin Shikei" written by Suzuki Tomohiko about the mass killing of a family of 4 in Omuta City, Fukuoka Prefecture in September 2004 by another 4-member family living in the same neighbourhood for the sake of money. As a result, the culprits were all given the death sentence for their roles in this case.

Mamiya plays the role of the family's second son Takanori who was roped in to commit the robberies by his gangster father Tetsuji (Musaka), hysterical mother Naomi (Irie Kanako) and elder brother Satoshi (Maiguma) as the family was in financial trouble due to debts and the mandatory contributions to the gang. Takanori's girlfriend Kaori will be played by Shimizu. However, things got out of hand and led to the multiple murders in order to achieve their aim. Other co-stars include Ochiai Motoki, Fujiwara Kisetsu and Torii Miyuki.

Mamiya remarked that he had been waiting a long time for the movie to be released as it is his first in a leading role. However, he had his reservations about acting in this movie at first but after talking to the director, Mamiya felt a lot of faith and anticipation towards this movie thus leading to him taking up the role. Mamiya said that he was happy to be able to meet a director who loves movies as much as he does and would be glad to work with him again in future.

Musaka who was regarded as the moodmaker on the set, said that the movie was based on such a cruel and violent true story so in a way, this should be seen as a human documentary rather than a fictional movie. He praised the director for being able to direct such a movie like big name directors such as Fukasaku Kinji and Itami Juzo who excelled in this genre.

During the event, a cake celebrating the movie's release was brought onto stage where the host joked that this was the "wedding cake" for Mamiya and Kobayashi since they "loved each other" so much. They were then asked to feed each other with the cake as Kobayashi asked Mamiya to continue acting in his movies while Mamiya proclaimed his liking for the director and pledged to work with him again.
